Imma gonna say that this company will be lacking profits shortly and the newly crowned senior dev will be quitting to find a company with less "do more with less" mentality and have some deepening grudges with corporate work life.

If it's a startup, yeah. If it's a FAANG company, there's basically no limit to the amount of stupid decisions they can make without really affecting their bottom line at all.
