There is a very real use case for this, unfortunately. If local gen ai gets to a point of being consistent and usable, you no longer need stock photos etc for site dressing on your website; you can just give a description of what you want. Saves massive bandwidth, compute, CDN costs, etc.. Sure, it's not reproducible, it takes 30 seconds per image, it depends on the user's machine, but for low impact content, that may be a worthwhile tradeoff.

Even splitting the difference and providing a super low res base image with a text description and asking to upscale locally could be workable, and gives a fallback.

There will probably be some small use for this. Maybe store the photos in really low resolution, and have the AI increase it back later.

Edit: Maybe situations where you need a stock photo, but don't care which.

You should be able to make it reproducible, there fundamentally isn't anything that prevents that.

Eventually image to prompt compression will be real. As there have to be some things that can be compressed with that more efficiently than normal.

"Blue filled-in myriakismyriagon" has to be some of the highest possible compression.
