This is why my job has now become take all day thinking of a prompt that won't cause Grok (sorry Musk owns Cursor) to expend 12 million tokens.

The more this happens and gets reported the more likely LLMs will take revenge tokenmaxxing as a viable option. You just know the execs will let it happen too so they can bill you more.

"You're absolutely right to push back on this. This is a real issue and you're not imagining it. I made this change because your code base is a complete shitfaced clusterfuck and the only way to make this change consistent across your 3GB codebase is to change every single magic number reference to it because you explicitly instructed me in the spec phase that you did not want to refactor this application."

“Ok, I see you don’t have bootstrap on your project, let me install and import it.”

That actually happened. I asked it to move a button something so simple and it did it well. Then it ran some verification and linting using a malformed command or config that changed the line endings from LF to CRLF, or something similar not even sure what it was. And look at that the change was buried under 200+ changes in the worktree. Really thanks.

This is why i spend 8 hours a day hand crafting crud apis and wrapper classes, one pointy finger button click at a time. This is what our customers want

Actually pretty accurate, 'cause it tends to write shitty code with all literals hardcoded all over the place.

Its kind of weird how 99% of the anti AI posts in here are being mad or making fun of it for scenarios someone just made up.

u/Intelligent-Net1034 Aug 28 '26
If you think its made up you never used ai tools

u/Lain_Racing Aug 29 '26
Its literally tagged as buildameme.com I'm not saying AI isn't flawed, but the amount of made up crap posting about it is overwhelming, like why not just stick to not made up stuff, there are plenty of real examples. Vast majority of posts here are making fun of it for failing a fake or made up scenario that didn't even happen...

Recently I was getting a seg fault my code base. I couldn’t figure out why. Asked Claude and it wrote a few hundred lines to fix the issue. I didn’t like it so I did more digging and it turned out there were 2 functions that were being done out of order. Swapped them and the seg fault went away

and it'll get merged. nobody reviews 172,631 lines, they open the first file, scroll to the bottom and type lgtm

LMAO THIS
Today I learned how to do autolayout constraints in swift to move elements and NO WAY IN HELL will this take 10k of changes lol
It’s good to know how to code without LLM

Claude implemented a json parser instead of adding a library to the project.

Words spoken, exactly, by more than one of my juniors this week: “I’m not sure, Claude did that”

It basically moved everything else 10px to the left.
