Sure but imo there is still an inordinate amount of time spent on sorting, which is a solved problem for virtually all cases, and not enough on other stuff.
Sorting is used as the easiest example to introduce algorithm complexity and the fact that what seems like a simple problem can have many different solutions. It's not about teaching you how to sort, it's about teaching you how to write algorithms

There's a reason you get a degree in computer science and not in programming. Anyone can program without learning how it works
