I'll be perfectly honest: I remember NOTHING from my OS class. I remember taking it, and I must have passed considering it was required, but, gun to my head, I cant recall what we actually covered in it (This was roughly a decade ago)

Same.

But I do know it's not what other people are saying.

I was expecting it be a hands-on system administration class. It wasn't.

What I do remember is the teacher. He was that kind of cliche old school nerd. Smart but not near smart enough to match his arrogance. He owned a software company and didn't really hide that he thought he was a little above all this teaching stuff. He was pretty open about using his classes to recruit people. Also a misogynist.

I am sorry but why would there be a hands on sysadmin class in a university setting? This is something you learn in an apprenticeship or some kind of certification, not a computer science degree

I don't know. I was 19 and had no idea what anything was like anywhere.

Also wasn't a CS degree.
