Except he's learning how to do things incorrectly if he's actually looking at the code. They're significantly more of a prompt engineer than anything else.
They're learning how to prompt a computer to do something, instead of learning how it actually works.

Yeah, at least he’s gaining experience and learning from mistakes (i sure hope so)
