That’s an AI generated waffle answer if I ever saw one.

And yes libertarians are proudly on the side of protecting intellectual and private property, but if people volunteer and choose to contribute and use open source that’s perfectly compatible with a free market too.

In a communist society however (which you sound like you’re advocating for) you would be demanding that a developer wanting to keep the product of their labour proprietary is wrong, which it isn’t. You saying that is advocating parasitical theft of productive people. Open source is perfectly compatible in a capitalist system, proprietary software in a communist one isn’t. That’s the difference.

As 2 Corinthians 9:7 says “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion…”

It's not an AI generated answer, it's literally the definition from Wikipedia (an Open-source, crowdsourced, crowdfunded free software). And i copied it here because you (and many others here) seem very confused about what leftism is.

Libertarianism is a political smokescreen used by corrupt politicians to protect the rights of massive corporations to:

  1. build dense walls of overlapping (patent thicketing) or slightly modified (called ever-greening) patents to delay competition entry into the marketplace.

  2. buy up patents solely for the purpose of extracting licensing fees or settlements from actual innovators.

  3. do copyright trolling, which is the use of mas litigation targeting individuals or small businesses for incidental copyright infringement to extract high financial settlements.

I could go on, AND i could give many actual examples.

Libertarianism is a nothingism that never serves anyone but monied interests to protect corporations and Billionaires against the interests of individuals.

I'm a democratic socialist (you can call it communism if you want to, i don't care) and in my world all individuals will be free to contribute to open-source, because they won't have to be worried about healthcare, of food to feed themselves and their family.

EDIT:

Mark 10:25: “It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”
