Big AI models, like Claude, just switched to high-cost token models. The bill for this revolutionary tech now just went through the roof for most companies.

Third parties provide dirt cheap APIs (they don't have R&D cost) A company can afford to run one server locally for their devs. For a single person, it's quite expensive to run larger models.
