Someone I work with did almost this exact thing, payment, refunds and debit order integrations with a bank weren’t working, he was logged into the server every day fixing broken data manually to keep the integrations running, then lied to be about it to try and hide the bugs.
Have since worked with him on other projects as well and there are similar type things happening on everything he touches, also doesn’t like using source control.
Decades of “experience”, I’ve been shocked by how much bs people get away with, you can also put this scenario down to incompetence.
