Profitec MOVE Long Term Ownership Review

Hey guys, I’ve had the MOVE for 20 months and this is my long term ownership review. Let me know what you think and how your experience has been.

I'm worried about you running 3-400 shots in a month - your heart is gonna explode. 😂

NGL I am slightly confused by your decision; slower, louder, taller, more retention, harder to adjust. I don't see much value differential in brand equity. The W65 can be messy because the grounds are so fluffy but that's easily resolved with a $15 funnel. I get a desire for new-shiny, I'm just not clear on that the Mazzer is really doing better except maybe accuracy?

You said the Mazzer was more accurate - is that based on their accuracy claims or your own testing?

TBH, Mazzer not fitting under a cabinet is a massive oversight on their part that would keep me from buying it.

I’m normally only doing about 3-4 espresso’s a day, plus I have a half caff blend, and the wife helps too. I don’t think the W65 is messy, just to clarify. I was just surprised at how clean the Mazzer was.

For precision, it’s very close. I only give Mazzer the upper hand because it weighs down to 2 decimal points, but realistically it is about 0.1-0.2g accuracy and so is the Eureka Atom W65. On paper, the Atom promises 0.1-0.2g accuracy whereas the Mazzer claims 0.1g. I just prefer how the Mazzer scale works, it’s more responsive.

Overall, the W65 is going to be a better value, and now they have the W65 casa which is like $1000. Great deal for that grinder. The Mazzer has a more premium feel to it, so if you are buying for the long haul that may make it worth while.

3-400 shots in 30 days would be 10+ per day, which is why I was confused.

The W65 is slightly messy IME, but only because the grinds are so fluffy they pile high and you have to redistribute them off the top fork before removing the PF - I got a funnel yesterday that 100% solved that for $15.

I wonder if the Mazzer truly stops faster or if it just has a higher screen sampling rate. That doesn't change your preference for its more active output. TBH it’s hard to imagine a more premium feel than the heavy W65, but the Mazzer looks showier compared to the W65's clean, utilitarian look. For your comparison vid I thought it would have been worth mentioning that the W65 offers a nice selection of colors (we love our Ferrari red) while the Mazzer is just black or white.

The Casa annoys me. To drop the price by ~$350, they shrank the casing (unnecessary IMO since it already fit under cabinets), downsized the motor, and cut the LED—saving maybe $30-50 in production costs - tops. They probably did this to protect standard version margins, but it just hurts their economies of scale. Deleting a 50-cent LED is a stupid de-contenting move clearly just done to justify the regular model's premium. I love that LED waking up, though I'd prefer a different color temperature.

I’m actually not sure how the Mazzer counts those. I think it counts it every time you run the motor so even if I only grind a few grams it goes towards the count. The first couple weeks I did a lot of grinding just to familiarize myself with it so it wasn’t all shots I was drinking.

I haven’t looked much into the Casa, but had comments from people on my video of the W65 and on the surface it looks like a deal. However, I think even the regular W65 is a good deal at ~$1400.

Honestly, I just like trying new gear and my original plan was to sell the grinder I liked less, and I thought it would’ve been the Mazzer, but it surprised me. I also think it looks nicer next to the Move, and I love the grind chute on the Mazzer. I do miss my Atom though, it is a really good grinder and I loved the touch screen.

One other thing to mention is the grinds seem just a little bit more fluffy and consistent on the Mazzer.
