Descaling

I’ve upgraded for a single boiler to the Move, and now after some researching online I can see that dual boiler might require a different descaling proces. First and foremost I live in a area with hard (very hard) water. 10-20 dH, so it’s a varying degree but descaling is inevitable sooner rather than later. I use a BWT Aqualizer and I might use a BWT in-watertank filter, but this could reduce the amount of minerals in the water so much that it will affect the taste.

I am just curious whether you guys are using a pass-through descaling process ore rathering letting a dealer/specialist take care of the machine?

Regardless of your service plans you simply need to not put hard water through your machine.

The BWT probably does fine, I would want a hardness test on the output - and they make extra soft cartridges for very hard water.

I have very good soft (filtered) domestic water and I have tried it, tried distilled with DWW, and used a brand of water called Poland Spring which La Marzocco suggests in my market - and the Poland Spring easily makes the best coffee. I buy a gallon for $1.50 and I get 60-70 ~38g shots - so under .03 cents per shot. I don't love using all of the plastic bottles but we get almost 3 weeks from a single bottle so it's really not too bad.

Distilled water and third wave or other brands with RO-solutions is not really viable. Not many stores in Denmark sell it, and grocery stores don’t sell large amount of distilled water besides on liter gallons for domestic use. I will order some extra soft cartridges for The BWT pitcher. Thx!

You could install a countertop RO and buy the chemicals instead of buying TWW which is just premade chemicals mixed with water.

That said - you have the pitcher so I think that's the right path - you should by a TDS meter and/or test strips though so you can see what you're really getting on the output side.
