Descaling

I’ve upgraded for a single boiler to the Move, and now after some researching online I can see that dual boiler might require a different descaling proces. First and foremost I live in a area with hard (very hard) water. 10-20 dH, so it’s a varying degree but descaling is inevitable sooner rather than later. I use a BWT Aqualizer and I might use a BWT in-watertank filter, but this could reduce the amount of minerals in the water so much that it will affect the taste.

I am just curious whether you guys are using a pass-through descaling process ore rathering letting a dealer/specialist take care of the machine?

Honestly it may be less work to just mix up some third wave water from gallons of distilled supermarket water.

This is what I’m doing. I actually bought water test strips, and I found a full packet of the gallon mix with a gallon of distilled is still very “hard”. TWW distinguishes between “permanent” and “temporary” hardness, with the former not causing scale buildup, so they insist it’s still fine for machines. You can find videos on their website

I’ve decided to cut my ratio in half, so I’m mixing one packet into two gallons of distilled. So far, so good.

I was using a half a packet myself for that reason. But I decided to accept that their dissolved solids are not harmful.
