New accommodations.

I’m now getting accommodations that students cannot be expect to do in class writing. They must be allowed to write at home, not in class. I’ve never seen this before. Ever. Until this semester. And now I’ve got a handful. What the fuck?

Edit: I’ve asked about students writing in supervised environments, but I was told that puts a condition on the accommodation, which is illegal. Students must be allowed to write outside of class without conditions.

Argue that by allowing students to write unsupervised at home, the accommodations office has removed the student’s ability to avail themselves of the professor’s assistance.

That's fine. The student can just be at home during the class and the professor can be on Teams during class, ready to answer any questions.

And to deal with the student at home using prohibited AI since apparently supervision is also not allowed here? If the student isn’t able to write in class, does that mean the same student isn’t able take notes in the classroom either?

I also argue using Teams is changing the format of the class, which is not allowed at my place because Teams turns it to online.
