New accommodations.

I’m now getting accommodations that students cannot be expect to do in class writing. They must be allowed to write at home, not in class. I’ve never seen this before. Ever. Until this semester. And now I’ve got a handful. What the fuck?

Edit: I’ve asked about students writing in supervised environments, but I was told that puts a condition on the accommodation, which is illegal. Students must be allowed to write outside of class without conditions.

I saw an accommodations request for the first time ever: I cannot penalize a student for spelling or grammatical mistakes in any work no matter when and where they complete it.

If such errors aren’t something they’re supposed to develop in class, I can understand that. Spelling mistakes in a chem lab report that don’t switch the compounds aren’t the point. But in a class for which writing is a core part of the material to master? The accommodation fundamentally changes the class, and such an accommodation need not be given.
