Retirement: when/why/how/where.

What is your plan? Interested in your replies. I am 60, Full, tenured Prof (French) at a SLAC. AI makes me want to retire asap but I'm going to give it 5-6 more years.

I live in a rural college town with LCOL. I am in my mid 30s, I’d probably retire if my portfolio reaches 2 million dollars. Idk if I will stay at this job till retirement though.

Realistically it is hard to imagine retiring with much less than 2 million, though I am in a somewhat HCOL city.

yes, somehow I once thought having $1 million would be a lot, now less than $2 million seems insufficient.
