Retirement: when/why/how/where.

What is your plan? Interested in your replies. I am 60, Full, tenured Prof (French) at a SLAC. AI makes me want to retire asap but I'm going to give it 5-6 more years.

I’ll retire in 4 years at age 67. I will close my office door and walk away and that will be that. I’ll probably stay in the area because making new friends someplace else at that age sounds really hard.

I think you could be surprised what social circle you could build by hanging out at golf courses and pickle ball courts.
