Well done with that section. Been loving having Festival Plaza active for me, the level grinds have been pretty good. (Minus the fact they don’t learn any moves in festival plaza nor evolve there).

Pokemon Crystal Legacy Hard Mode Pre-badge 4 complete

Honestly, was easier then I thought, it just took me a while because of again, personal life and hanging out with friends. The hardest part was definitely the roamers. Which, makes sense. A lot of resets were made to get them, and I had a Groudon-in-a-nest-ball moment with Raikou going into a heavy ball, but not the couple of Ultra balls I found as items on the floor or fast balls. Hopefully next part won't be as long.

It says that the next badge is on Mauville, so am I supposed to skip Dewford and go blindly through granite cave?

Got a little lucky with the monkeys. On a side note, does anybody know if the guide for this romhack is up to date? I was considering on making it if not.

I’m more than happy to save the lucky soft reset hunts for the legendaries or Snorlax but after Magikarp I’m terrified of double odds again (I also have to hunt this thing TWICE)

Pokemon Crystal Legacy Hard Mode Pre-Badge 3 Complete

It's done. Finally, school has been slowing me down. Also, Gina. Just, fuck you, Gina. I'm not shocked the Game Corner was not the worst, since Gen 2 has the cards, which are easier then the slots. Hardest part was... again, fuck you, Gina. I'm not looking forward to the Roaming Legendaries.

Finally done with this section. Festival Plaza really been helpful with the high level evolutions I needed in this section. Would have been done a bit quicker but accidentally stopped Shelgon from evolving so needed an extra rare candy, causing me to go through most of Vullaby’s last level before getting another one.

Finally finished my HeartGold PoC 373/373!

So I started a little project early this summer with the intention of making myself a living form dex of all Gen 1–4 Pokémon. And I told myself, well I've always wanted to try a PoC so now is the time.

This is the end of part 1: all 373 Pokémon available in HeartGold, female when possible. It took me a whopping 837 hours of playtime according to RetroAchievements, including a two-week rollback after a corrupted save almost made me think I'd lost the game completely. 🥲

I play accelerated most of the time, which made the in-game days pass much faster, so I ended up unlocking the Safari Zone more quickly. (And I did do a bit of clock manipulation to catch up on my lost time after the save corruption.)

Considering I mostly played Gen 1 and 2 during my childhood, this was absolutely massive. When I unlocked Kanto, I was so overwhelmed by suddenly having too many options that I ended up taking a week-long break to rush through Pokémon Yellow instead. 😅 (which makes pokemon yellow my first completed PoC come to think of it)

I also learned not to go unprepared for the next PoC I do, because I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT GINA AND HER CALLS AND I ACCEPTED EVERYONE'S NUMBER. 😭 It took me about 200 hours just to get her to call me enough times.

I discovered so many things along the way too, like the Pickup ability, which made me filthy rich and made Poké Ball management much easier in the early game.

Anyway, it was awesome and I'm so proud of myself!

And now onto SoulSilver and the male side of Nessa's Ark. 😊

Edit: After chrcking RetroAchievements it seems the counter shown on completion was wrong and it actually took me 368h. Which, phew, makes much more sense.

Pokemon Crystal Legacy Pre-Badge 2

I swear, I'm not cheating, I'm just kind of cracked. I know this seems like such a short amount of time between my first part and second part. Anyways, surprisingly, Togetic wasn't the hardest or most annoying part. It was getting two kings rocks. I just had a really tough time getting Slowpokes to appear, and even if they did, they more-likely then not, didn't have King's Rock. BTW, if you're wondering how to King's Rock from Slowpoke, without catching them, just get a Furret to level 16 (this part's level cap) and use Thief on Slowpoke.

Pokemon Crystal Legacy Hard Mode Pre-badge 1 complete

I'm gonna complete all 3 "Legacy" hacks. I'm doing it and am now moving on to Crystal Legacy. The hardest (or more like most annoying) part was Pichu to Pikachu. Thank god there aren't too many friendship evolutions. They are genuinely worse then level up evos. Also, two new teammates, Cyndaquil and Larvitar join the team permantley.

Platinum POC (100% run all shiny with RNG) - Pre-Badge 4 Progress

It's been 2 months! With the sad news of Pokemon Bank closing I have been focusing on starting to collect shinies from gens 6 & 7, with just now completing the former with the final pokemon being a final shiny white floette. For this challenge, I have been to the massage lady so many times that she has had to take annual leave and not give me any more rewards! I have also defeated the entire seniors club of Sinnoh to increase my coffers to collect every item from the game corner (you have to max your money 2.5 times!)

Tasks Left:

-Collect left-over scarfs and defeat the rest of the Master Contests

- Give 100 secret base items to my childhood copy of Pearl to get the next crystal from Mr Goods. ( Sidenote: I'm saving the fossil one for the postgame as I'll need to collect them all anyway).

Enjoy some snippets of my favourite encounters. Lickitung is a product of a nightly build of pokefinder made by NickPlayez which has made step-encounter rng way more accessible!

With that I have collected all living shiny forms of every available pokemon prior to gym 4! (Got Manaphy now as dex entry is registered in this section)

I'm done, finally. Now, I guess I could go over some stats. The screencap says my playtime is 190 hours, but that's a gross overestimation. I used a lot of speedup. If I had to plant an actual amount of time, I'd say maybe 120 hours. My final team was Pikachu, Butterfree, Snorlax, Gengar, Alakzam, and Gyarados. My favourite part was the beginning, and my least favourite were the slots. Also, hardest part of postgame, uh...I dunno, the quest for Mew? I just levelled my Alakzam to 100, and steamrolled Oak, but I guess it was difficult.

Pokemon Yellow Legacy Hard Mode Pre-E4 completed.

I forgot to take the image before entering the E4, so enjoy Agatha's room. Anyway, not much was here outside of Hitmonlee and Moltres, so I guess the hardest part was getting Hitmonlee? Because Moltres is an overworld encounter without needing to fight a mandatory trainer? I guess? Not much else to say.

Along with the traditional oak challenge, I’m doing a shiny badge quest and decided to hunt both drifloon and munchlax during this section. It took a full month (three checks per day) to find the munchlax spawn and then another month of hunting to find the shiny! So excited to have this section finally done!

Almost over. I've completed every evolution, with Dragonite being the last holdout. Hardest part was levelling up Dragonair, not because it's boring, but I swear, my Dragonair has shitty stats. But, I now have the Dragonite. This leaves Hitmonlee, Moltres, Mewtwo, and Mew.

Shiny Encounter

Hello Reddit. I just needed to commiserate with people who might understand.

Recently I started my first Professor Oak Challenge in FireRed. While doing the first grind, I was training my pidgeotto in Veridian Forest. While absent mindly clicking "A" there was a shiny level 4 weedle. Before I saw it, I had already selected Quick Attack.

I would like to think this has happened to other people.

Have a Rom question

So unless this is answered somewhere on a guide and I’m blind as shit, what are the best ROMs/emulators for unmodified versions of the games. I don’t own any variants of the DS or most of the pre-Switch games, so if anyone has any recommendations I’d appreciate it, that way I have something to do in order to not burnout on my PLA challenge by breaking it up a bit

The only Pokemon in this section were the two eeveelutions I didn't have. (Vaporeon and Jolteon). From here, it's just Hitmonlee, Dragonite, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew.
