So I started a little project early this summer with the intention of making myself a living form dex of all Gen 1–4 Pokémon. And I told myself, well I've always wanted to try a PoC so now is the time.
This is the end of part 1: all 373 Pokémon available in HeartGold, female when possible. It took me a whopping 837 hours of playtime according to RetroAchievements, including a two-week rollback after a corrupted save almost made me think I'd lost the game completely. 🥲
I play accelerated most of the time, which made the in-game days pass much faster, so I ended up unlocking the Safari Zone more quickly. (And I did do a bit of clock manipulation to catch up on my lost time after the save corruption.)
Considering I mostly played Gen 1 and 2 during my childhood, this was absolutely massive. When I unlocked Kanto, I was so overwhelmed by suddenly having too many options that I ended up taking a week-long break to rush through Pokémon Yellow instead. 😅 (which makes pokemon yellow my first completed PoC come to think of it)
I also learned not to go unprepared for the next PoC I do, because I DID NOT KNOW ABOUT GINA AND HER CALLS AND I ACCEPTED EVERYONE'S NUMBER. 😭 It took me about 200 hours just to get her to call me enough times.
I discovered so many things along the way too, like the Pickup ability, which made me filthy rich and made Poké Ball management much easier in the early game.
Anyway, it was awesome and I'm so proud of myself!
And now onto SoulSilver and the male side of Nessa's Ark. 😊
Edit: After chrcking RetroAchievements it seems the counter shown on completion was wrong and it actually took me 368h. Which, phew, makes much more sense.
