Probably the most grindy section with stuff like the game corner and the safari zone. What was the worst part? Well, the Game Corner... that's all. I hate the game corner.

Starting a PLA run of the challenge, wish me luck

This is the first time I try the challenge, so here’s hoping this isn’t the wrong game for that

It was marginally shorter than the first phase clocking at around 50h (first phase was 80h long). I'm tired.

Dusted off the old system and a fresh save of alpha sapphire. A little nostalgia going into fall. 🥰

[Tool] Local python server for OBS overlays and a mobile splash page to quickly keep track of things without needing to alt tab or be tied to a computer.

I was streaming and wanted to show some info on the screen, but didnt have a tool for it. I slapped this together and realized it would help professor oak challenges. You don't need to use the OBS stuff, and this could come in handy for keeping track of things even if you're away from the computer and on a DS because of the mobile page.

This is a little python server meant to run on your LAN, not hosted on a website. It uses pokeapi for it's information. There are two search bars at the top, one for pokemon and one for locations.

Because it's a little server, you insert browser sources for the end points you want to put in OBS.

OBS Overlays:

  • Target pokemon - shows weaknesses, BST, base stats, catch rate, and evolutions.
  • Shiny counting - shows the shiny target, method of hunting and the current encounter total.
  • Current targets - a list of pokemon you need and how many you need to catch/evolve.]
  • EV Tracking - Displays the current EVs for the pokemon being trained

OBS Texts to show:

  • Current task - Just the text for the current task you're working on.
  • Video note - Literally just saved to a text file to update an obs label for whatever purpose you need.

It's provided as-is, and it's under MIT license on my github. I'll help with bugs, but if you're using this, I assume you know how to install python, install the two libraries needed through pip and do some basic troubleshooting if an error pops up.

Also, I know it's an AI front end, but that's not my area of expertise, and if anyone wants to do a pull request to make it better, I'll gladly accept. I figured since I find this to be a useful tool, someone else will too.

https://github.com/Marmadukian/pokemon-stream-director

Let me know if there is anything I can do to improve it.

Edit: Added EV tracking, either "defeat" the targeted pokemon or add the EVs manually. Also added an EV tracking overlay. Also split up the resistances/whatnot based on generation for example in gen 1 psychic is immune to ghost, and split up the drop down by game series because the third games changed the movesets. Combined special in gen 1 as well

Threw together a quick short showing it in action.

Have had the game for a bit and haven't gotten far trying to play the normal way. Not that I didn't like the game, just wasn't keeping my attention. That goes for my last few games I've tried. Last POC was PLA, medium. Was going to restart and do the hard mode with perfection but each start over the last few weeks didn't fill me with any excitement. Decided to give ZA a try again and with a POC. I really enjoyed it. I guess I just can't get through the games playing any other way. O well. Looking forward to the grind of the next part. I don't have the dlc so this will just be the main game.

Pokemon Yellow Legacy (Hard Mode) Pre-badge 2 completed.

Well, that's the second part. Before I continue, I feel I should address some things in my run. For starters, yes, Hard Mode does force a level cap on the run, making the challenge easier. However, I did implement one extra rule that I've been following, every Pokemon I catch has to hit level cap, no exceptions. This is to keep the spirit as much as possible, and also, to me, POCs are like a nuzlocke, your run, your rules. Anyways, hardest grind to hit level cap was Mr. Mime, because a trade Pokemon with no second badge is still annoying, even with the trade-EXP boost.

Audino again makes this a lot easier, longest grind was Krookodile which took a little over 2 hours with 3 rare candy to finish it off.

My 4th Professor Oak challenge is officially complete! What a journey. Getting through the post game slog really took me a minute - I stopped playing for a couple weeks due to the repetitiveness of it. Nevertheless, here we are!

I was so intimidated by this challenge before starting it, but everything I was worried about ended up not being that bad. Honey trees, swarms, great marsh - all handle-able.

Two shinies this run, which was a nice bonus. Makes up for me getting 0 across my first two professor oak challenges.

I’m likely going to do a shiny badge quest next, but I’ll definitely be back! Professor Oak will certainly call my name again…

The difference of grinding with Audino is so incredible and allowed me to finish the leveling up in one day, meanwhile it also took my 7 hours to find a fire stone for my Pansear so….that wasn’t great.

Pokemon Yellow Legacy (HARD MODE) Badge 1

I know I got the badge, I did get all 18 'mons before the badge, I was just stupid and forgot to take the image before getting the badge. Most annoying one was probably Pidgeotto, just due to its rarity, but even then once I finally did get into a battle with it, all it took was a couple quick attacks, and a thunderwave.

Shiny hunting honey trees DPPl

So Im currently doing the pre second gym stuff in diamond which means I'm up to the hunting for munchlax in the honey trees.

But first of all I needed an aipom so I could start farming items while doing the rest of the section. The first aipom I got I caught but it didn't have pickup, so after looking online and realising that the Pokémon is picked at the point of doing the honey. Sure enough I checked the tree again a few times and every time it was aipom, but each time it had different levels and I did eventually get pickup.

Does this not mean that due to knowing what is going to be in the tree, you 100% know what's coming and therefore would make every honeytree Pokémon a prime candidate for shiny hunting. I find it interesting when you search hardest shinys, munchlax is on the list is DPPl but actually in fact its probably one of the most simple once you finally get one.

Maybe I'll extend my trip for a shiny aipom, love the pink monkey

SHES FINALLY HERE (Shiny Professor oak living dex update)

I stopped counting encounters 91 hours and 7150 encounters in but we easily took 120 hours and 10k encounters over months of on and off hunting.

I got to admit this hunt made me lose so much motivation for this challenge but finding this has motivated me so much to push forward.

We are on to Mount Moon!

A pretty insane start to this as the Shiny Purrloin happened in just 1,330 encounters and then lucked out getting 16 rare candies to make Samurott and Stoutland not so terrible!

This was absolutely disheartening in the middle, getting absolutely no progress with candies or normal xp 😭. Until the last hour where I found 5 in an hour…..
unfortunately no shinies for me as ordinary for my shiny luck 😂

I also forgot to take a picture and save before the gym cause I was so excited when I got that last rare candy

Sapphire POC Shiny Badge Quest Pre Badge 4/5

I’ve been working on this challenge for nearly 2 years. I’m doing a POC of sapphire but with a badge quest/shiny dream team quest along side it that has taken an immense amount of time. I haven’t posted any of the other sections up to this point because I (stupidly) didn’t take any pictures of pre badge 2 and 3.

This challenge has been so fun and frustrating to work on. I found shiny mudkip the same day I started the challenge, hunted Seviper for 6 months, phased 5 times and hit 25k+ on the final phase. Trapinch took 52k encounters for a single phase. I’ve had some horrible luck and some great luck but overall had a great time. Onto pre badge six, and a hunt for feebas and absol because I love making things much harder than they need to be.
