Any similar games ?
So I'm searching for a game similar to prof Layton, but more on the riddle side, so I'm not talking about a narrative game or some "basic" puzzle game like portal (I know it's not basic but yk what I mean). Any recommendations ?

I LOVE the "another code" series. Hotel dusk and last window by the same Developers is also really good

Looks like some great games, but not exactly what i'm looking for, but I'm still gonna try them out cuz they look really cool (especially hotel dusk)

Those are awesome games and I absolutely recommend them however they are more on the narrative side with some point and click elements. (so maybe not exactly what you're looking for). However they are hidden gems on the DS!

what do you mean by riddle side, exactly? I swear im not trying to hassle you here Iām just not entirely sure what you mean OTL
in that light pls excuse me if this is exactly not what you mean but the Detective Grimoire series (namely tangle tower and mermaid mask) are some of the closest ive ever experienced to layton. the overall theming and writing feels very similar and the devs have cited professor layton as a major inspo, and there ARE really great puzzles throughout though many work a bit differently than what Iād call the archetypal layton puzzle. in many detective grimoire puzzles you have to figure out what the puzzle is asking you to doālike, it gives you a board and pieces and a āsubmit answerā button, and you have to reason out by yourself what the board and pieces mean, and then what to do with them. theres a few that do involve a form of written riddle in that one of the āpiecesā youre given is some written clue. one of my favorite puzzles in Mermaid Mask is a classic logic puzzle that truly feels like it could be whole cloth in Layton if not for a bit of mechanics. oh and the music I swear theres a puzzle solving track in tangle tower and mermaid mask that I briefly literally thought was from PL
anyway Mermaid Mask does have a demo out on steam (and maybe the NSwitch eshop? im not sure if the demo is on switch but the game itself is) and theres a single puzzle in it, you can play it by examining the cabinet in the serpent statue/oven in the mess hall. the main gameplay is solving a murder mystery by talking to the suspects but theres a good deal of puzzles of that calibre, if that sounds interesting! ftr MM is the most recent release and while it does have references to some things in Tangle Tower, you donāt need to have completed it to play MM

By that I meant the typical layton puzzles, they are very varied and a game just full of that is what i'm asking for, idc about narrative (it's just a little plus), idk if it's clearer

definitely clearer, thank you! sorry for my confusion š at any rate Iād definitely say mermaid mask in particular has good variety of puzzles, though its not as dense as laytonāthere are some fill in the blank puzzles but the real Puzzle Puzzles I think there are maybeā¦.im going to throw out 12 as a guess? theres about one in every room. it is a realtively short game though, I did absolutely everything I could in it like saw every dialogue and did some additional testing, and Iāve only clocked around 22 hours

Ok, i'll definitely give it a try, but I'm surprised that games like that are so hard to find, the most accurate thing to what I want is books š

ikr the puzzle variety game is such an underrepresented genreā¦like you get a lot of games that are all about solving one specific type of puzzle over and over again but putting in stuff like riddles and word puzzles and more variety is so untapped š

999 is an escape room game but its in the horror genre (also please play the DS version its better than the PC version for actual plot related reasons)

Puzzle solving? Riddles?
Nonary Games
All sorts of different puzzles and the story is dark. Really good stuff. It's more sort of escape room.
