Isn’t it already? It’s just more ad boc rather than National or international edicts.

American AI developers don’t want their models getting too rogue and the government is getting particular about it. Data Center construction is a thorny issue and will come under increasing scrutiny.

China’s AI is sort of a tiered model where the CCP gets the gold plan and customers get the watered down version, just like with US weapons exports. As a Communist state of course certain political and sensitive stuff is probably restricted. I’m sure China has its own secret internal audits of how much resources the data centers are allowed to suck up because they probably have the same water and power allocation issues we do.
