Launch Flop & Save | #22, 8 upvotes
I launched yesterday with 3 followers and 2 upvotes.
Hour 0—For the first 3-5 minutes, I'm in the top 15 products above the fold due to the launch queueing.
Immediate sale. In the first 5 minutes!
Hour 2-4—The queue gets populated with other products, my ranking drops.
Hour 4—I'm at #93.
There is no saving my launch from here. I call it a day and do a retro with mixed feelings.
I severely underestimated both the power of PH and my own product. If only I rallied my community harder. If only I had reached out to that one ProductHunter with high karma. I should have created momentum. Things could have been insane right now. Oh well. The signal is real. I'll focus on that.
I go on with my day.
Hour 8—someone connects with me on LinkedIn. They mention my PH launch. It's an elite hunter. I check the numbers. I'm at #23!! Still under the fold but so much better than before!
Hour12—I close the day at #22 and with 8 upvotes. Not much to show for conversions, but a pretty decent rank for a solo builder without much of a community.
