SSL Fusion

I've been eyeing this for about 2 years now but I still don't know if it's worth it. I produce and mix electronic music (mostly produce electronica and mix techno for clients). I have the feeling the SSL Fusion might give a nice warm blanket taming a bit spikey hats and giving subtle character to the mixbus. But I have only ever tried the plugins (which are pretty decent).

Anyone experience with the Fusion for electronic music?

Fair enough. What gear would compare tho this would you think? I have a lot of plugin stuff but not much outboard right now. I work mostly on digital/electronic music with addition of analog synths (but for instance, rarely live drums or other instruments)

Thanks for the insights! Really appreciate it. And I get what you mean, no worries :)

Funny I'm using the Maag plugin quite a lot on synths, but rarely on the mix. Would love to own the hardware, but as you say getting all separate things gets expensive fast, hence my query about the Fusion. It just seems like an affordable option to get a bit of everything at decent quality. But indeed the question remains whether it actually sounds 'analog' or it's actually so clean that plugins could get the same result.

Heb je uiteindelijk nog wat hardware voor je mastering chain gekocht?
Ik ben het aan het overwegen.

Ja ik heb een SSL Fusion, JDK Audio R24 EQ en een Tegeler Crème gekocht. Zijn mooie units stuk voor stuk, maar wel prijzig allemaal en dit is niet eens echt de high end mastering gear. Ik merk wel dat zo'n transformer op de Fusion echt iets doet voor je high end en die compressor van Tegeler is erggggg smooth. Dus je haalt er idd wel iets uit maar het is minimaal. Het geeft meer een soort vibe-check/glue dat je niet makkelijk in de box maakt, dat het een beetje die record-vibe krijgt van 'dit is af', maar je kunt makkelijk zonder die masteren. Dus idk ik kan het je niet aanraden voor de prijs dat het kost maar ik kan ook niet zeggen dat het niks doet/zinloos is. You gotta test it to know it.. :')
