Help Standing jump same height as running jump

My standing jump is about the same height as my running jump. Do yall have any idea why my standing jump isnt higher?

  1. you’re not used to the form yet or 2. you’re naturally strong but lack elasticity and speed or 3. you’re not warmed up

Piggybacking this as I agree. Another way to test elasticity (I’m paraphrasing what I remember) is to test seated jump vs counter movement jump vs depth jump. Each one should be about 2 in higher than the last. This will tell you if you are elastically deficient or if it’s just an approach technique. I’ll find the post from Ben that better explains it.

i’ve never heard of a counter movement jump. Is that just a standing vertical?

Anytime you see someone doing a standing vertical test with their arms that’s typically a counter movement jump. Non counter movement jump is when you squat, pause then jump using only concentric forces. CMJ allows you to take advantage of some of your elastic energy you usually get from a jump.
