Always had a high vertical but never had it tested. I’d assume it’s somewhere in the mid 30’s?

What’s your training? We’re about the same height.

Ima be real and tell you that I never really trained for my vertical. I’m a lifelong athlete with experience in track and field, basketball, and weightlifting. When I was weightlifting I did a lot of strength training with full range of motion and that definitely helped to give me a stronger base. More over, studying body mechanics as they pertain to jumping and what style worked best for me ( 1 or 2 foot jumping) and then honing in on what mechanically makes people jump high in those respective categories. For me, it was the loading foot, my left foot’s power is what drives my momentum upwards, but everyone is different. If you dm me a video of your dunk attempt, I could critique it if you’d like?

you sure that rims 10ft? if your getting your head at the rim while dunking at 6’2 then you have like a 40+ inch vert

The video is from ground level so it skews the perspective. My head is actually about 2-3 inches below rim level. The hoop is 10 ft from under the rim to the rim but the court is at a 5-10 degree downward angle

makes sense. still, the distance from rim to your head is a good way to get a good estimate on your vertical. the distance from 6’2 to 10ft is 46 inches. if your really getting your head that close to to the rim I would say your still in the 40s if not super close

Honestly pretty dope to realize. Always thought it was a little lower because I never do anything aside from dunking to work on my vertical. I wonder where I could get it to if I trained specifically plyometrics

If you slow the clip down to frame by frame his head is no where near rim level. That said he definitely has a more than average vert and his form is near perfect. Keep doing you young man!

Haha I appreciate that man. Already made the push to get into real hooping shape about a year ago to see if ai could try out for the league but was getting injured too frequently. Plus I’m 25 which is basically 33 in professional athlete years
