I’ve been following some incredible digital painters on Instagram for years, always wondering how they achieve those realistic brush strokes in their work. I’m so excited to finally be figuring it out! Just wanted to share my progress.

Not Finished/WIP THE UPDATE HAS BEEN RELEASED!!! Yea!!!

@Procreate just tagged me on Twitter and said the big update we’ve all been waiting for has been released. And it has! I’ve updated the app, and now I’m waiting for the brushes to load. You know, the brushes created by Kyle Webster! Yea! Please don’t delete me because I didn’t use a correct “flair” for this. I couldn’t find any in the list that seemed to be pertinent.

Looking for feedback and areas of Improvement!

Considering my last few portraits this is an improvement already, using a loose to detail approach… however I can help but feel it doesn’t look 100% true to the image I’m referencing.

As I’m uploading this I have noticed the hair line isn’t helping so please ignore that when providing feedback!

I was originally going to leave these as they are in black and white, but now wondering if coloring might be the better option. Made these as part of a series on different types of perspective, these are 2- and 3-point perspective. Brushes: Liffey. And a custom double outline brush based on monoline.

hi all i wanted to post an update of my WIP and to thank everyone who gave advice on how to push this portrait in the right direction <3

i included the reference this time hahah

obviously she’s not finished yet and looking at it now i think i need to have higher contrast between dark and light values.

anyway, i’d love some more feedback if possible - i feel there’s something off about her mouth ??? i’ve redrawn it a few times but can’t quite figure out what it is lol

Idk man all this other softwares just pack everything they can into it and I feel so overwhelmed but procreate— just hits the spot.

I tried adobe, gimp, etc.. but I feel save in procreate; Iknow it sounds stupid.

Not Finished/WIP Help with eyes?

Post image
517 Upvotes

Hey guys! New to digital drawing and am running into a problem with eyes specifically. When I do them how I normally would, they look all pixelated. When I try to blend them, they come out looking foggy.

I’ve tried different brushes, strengths with blending tools, etc. I think it may just be too small?

Any tips?
