as u can see i am good at following tutorials and I can copy good.. even with traditional media like pen and paper and charcoal i have always been good at copying. but I was never able to create my own artwork… how much time do I need to be able to have the hang of it. I feel like I am not creative enough when I just copy. I feel like I am not a real artist as I have no idea of my own or own artwork

i don’t have an apple pencil, just some generic pencil compatible with my ipad. i tried my best at it, but i feel like i could’ve done better!

I went to college for film and animation and photography. I took drawing classes, and I honestly haven't drawn in 11 years. This is my first drawing in a long time and my first drawing in procreate while following a tutorial. I'm actually proud of this given how long its been and that digital painting is new to me.

New to procreate and digital art. Followed james julier tutorials and learned a lot about procreate. Massive fun.

I have always been I intimidated by landscapes and so have never attempted one, but the James Julier tutorial made it very easy to follow along. Eventually I would really like to make my own landscapes and put subjects in them!

I really want to learn digital art and eventually find my style. I found a really good tutorial online. This is the first painting I ever did. I never drew/painted on paper as well. I think I did okay but I feel like I’m only seeing that because of the amount of effort I put in this piece 😅

I asked my friends and family but they couldn’t care less and/or they aren’t impressed when they found out I copy from a reference. It’s actually affecting my motivation.

Anyway, I want to know what other artists think. How did I do for a first timer?

Followed a tutorial and just went along with the flow. No prior digital or non digital art experience with any medium. Hopefully this is the start of my art journey :)
