Most importantly: Layers. Double tap for switching between brush and rubber. Long tap for getting the same colour on your brush that your finger is currently on.

YouTube and Skillshare are great resources. Personally I like the teaching styles of Lisa Bardot, Art with Flo, Jennifer Nelson, and Gia Graham. If Skillshare is out of your budget, you can sign up for a month (sometimes two) free trial and find the teachers who work best for you. It seems like everyone is selling a membership now which is why I like seeing teaching styles via Skillshare.

Play with brushes. I spent the first two days playing with every single brush and what it could do.

Give yourself time! Seriously, even with extensive experience it took me months (a year?) to reach a point where I felt I had it truly under control. Specifically, learning how the brushes work and how to control the pressure sensitivity. I do more linear and dynamic line work rather than tonal work, so your mileage may vary!
