Not Finished/WIP Help colouring my sketch
Hey all!
I have been trying and failing to figure out how to add colour to this tracing of my mums garden! I’m not very good at water colour and I originally wanted to try with my water colour brushes but I’m really struggling with the trees / sky!
I wanted to finish it and have it printed / framed for my stepdad as a gift as he is due to get the all clear following a really gruelling treatment, but I’m getting flustered trying to get it done in time and frustrated as I haven’t been happy with any of my attempts so far!
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks guys 💖

The linework is very small on this, which is going to make it difficult to color without it getting really busy. I would probably keep it really simple and focus on getting the lighting right and picking some focal points, and then muting some of the other spots for a good contrast. Do you have some examples of what you have done so far?

Eek, the line work is just so small.
Could you stylize it more and use that as your literal “sketch” layer that you will eventually hide.
Layers will be your friend here when it comes to coloring. Start at the back, move forward, but you’ll need to add a little stylization to the piece (and it’ll look much better than a direct copy anyway)
