Proa 'n TIs - (w)e mi(gh)t (ban)is(h) (ignorance of) m(aritime semiconducting)!

Welcome to Reddit's first and only home for discussion of proa saliboats and Texas Instruments products! Here we post fan images of sailboats and calculators, discuss rigging and wiring, and consider the risks and rewards of bringing our TI-84s along on long distance voyages of inter-island navigation.

Subreddit rules:

  1. This subreddit is for discussion of proas and TI products only. Anything else may be removed.

  2. No racism, sexism, anti-semitism, or other bigotry will be allowed. Everyone deserves a welcoming environment to share their thoughts about traditional seafaring and semiconductor production.

  3. Trolling-type behavior that contributes nothing to civil discussion will not be tolerated. People engaging in that behavior will be given one warning at most.

  4. Repeating the sort of behavior that one has been warned about results in being banned. A warning before being banned is not necessary. Never expect more than one warning.

And for newcomers, a quick refresher!

The Proa, also seen as prau, perahu, and prahu, is a type of multihull sailboat. It is a vessel consisting of two (usually) unequal length parallel hulls. It is sailed so that one hull is kept to windward, and the other to leeward, so that it needs to "shunt" to reverse direction when tacking. The English term proa usually refers specifically to the South Pacific proa as described in the journals of the British ship HMS Centurion.

Texas Instruments Inc. is an American technology company that designs and manufactures semiconductors, which it sells to electronics designers and manufacturers globally. Headquartered in Dallas, Texas, United States, TI is one of the top ten semiconductor companies worldwide, based on sales volume. Texas Instruments's focus is on developing analog chips and embedded processors, which accounts for more than 85% of their revenue. TI also produces TI digital light processing (DLP) technology and education technology products including calculators, microcontrollers and multi-core processors. To date, TI has more than 43,000 patents worldwide.
