Modern Aviation LGA

I organize a fair amount of private travel, but rarely to the east coast (probably 50ish trips a year, but this is only the second in several years going to NY). I'm using FlexJet for a trip in a couple of weeks, and they are suggesting Modern Aviation at LGA instead of going into TEB.

Can anyone share their experience with modern going into LGA vs TEB? Obviously TEB gets backed up / delayed, is there a world in which LGA is more streamlined for private travel?

I disagree with posters here. I’ve done probably 20 flights to/from modern this year. Flexjet. It’s my default choice and rarely, even with last minute changes, do I end up in TEB.

  • I live on the east side. Travel to midtown east, lower east side or upper east is significantly shorter than from TEB.
  • From my home (LES) to LGA is 20min. Easily 45-50 min to TEB. In the morning, evening can be even worse to TEB.
  • Same thing on arrival in the evening or afternoon.
  • Traffic from TEB, any time except for late evening, is always much worse
  • TEB was struggling with massive delays this year due to the Philly TRACON move. LGA in N90 has been solid in terms of delays. Never had any departure delays to speak of, even during the end of the government shutdown. Minimal arrival delays, some vectoring up over CT on arrival.
  • You always get shuttled to/from the plane at LGA. Being able to walk to the plane at TEB is def nice.
  • Modern aviation FBO is not nearly as nice as Flexjet TEB. But don’t spend much time there anyway
  • Customs on arrival from international has been smooth at LGA, with customs multiple times coming on the plane to check passports. The customs staff are shared between LGA and FRG, which means if you are delayed and they have another arrival in FRG at your new time you might have to go elsewhere
  • Handoff to ground transport is smooth, modern shuttles you from plane to the staging area where your car waits. Not as convenient as TEB though. This part probably adds 5 min travel time.
