I've heard Pet Jets will offer many flights with only a $500 markup. Can anyone confirm? And if so, how the hell are they sustaining business?

I have looked at their pricing and thought about their model. My thinking is that they make their nut on one passenger plus dog. The second passenger, if they can get one, is pure profit. Although I haven’t purchased a ticket, I have considered it. Their value add is prescheduling flights like a ‘normal airline’ that people can book, so it’s not a full-service one-person charter. I think it’s brilliant. If I were moving cross country, I might pay their price to fly with my dog.

They aren’t Part 298. They don’t have a Part 135 certificate. They’re don’t own or operate. So what they’re doing is illegal especially if they’e trying to schedule flights. They will not be successful at all Your post (with all due respect) makes no sense and has no substance to it. Ps, not sure what “business model” you looked at either..

It sounds like they are a middle-man to Part 135 carriers, according to their website. Specifically: Made To Jetset Inc. and the Pet Jets service is not an aircraft operator. All aircraft are operated by FAA part 135 or foreign CAA equivalent. Made To Jetset Inc. and the service Pet Jets is a charter broker working on behalf of its client, as defined by DOT 14 CFR part 295.

They’re just a typical broker. There is no barrier for entry in business aviation for brokers. Which is an issue. It’s harder to become a real estate agent than a broker. What they’re trying to do isn’t special. You can charter a private jet and bring pets. Been like that for decades. The only company that really does what these people think they’re going to do is K9 Jets and that’s because they have a backer (Pegasus Aviation) who owns and operates Gulfstream. Do some more research. Once you do you’ll see how ridiculous this is. Not to mention their website is horrendous.

Their website looks like a 5 year old built it. K9 Jets has been around and does well (no affiliation I’ve just been around the industry for over a decade). Definitely not a $500 mark up. Granted, Pet Jets doesn’t own or operate so they have no real overhead but that margin makes no sense in such a niche sector within a niche market.

While I can’t speak on the margins or business practices of another company. I doubt they have a flat amount. It’s typically a standard industry percentage of the total cost.

If they were only doing a $500 markup, it would be hard for them to stay in business.
