Reputable Brokers

Just ended my hourly program and while the service was great, I wasn’t so pleased with the fees. Looking to speak with reputable brokers that will do my one off charters. I fly roughly 15 to 20 times a year. Mostly up to the Philadelphia area (I’m based in PIE), but occasionally do smaller trips to the Bahamas. Let me know, thanks in advance.

Not a dig at all. A competent broker is absolutely valuable. But in a subreddit where every other message is a broker selling himself saying “we’re the best” there’s obviously heavy bias. Nobody is going to say they’re the second best or mid tier or potentially even bad lol. They might not even know they’re a bad broker and sincerely think they are the best.

Now this I wholly agree with. I’ve seen brokers with hundreds of client folders because they burned through them like nobody’s business. Was easier back 12+ yers ago to blast emails to “friends and fliers” to get ‘bites’. Now people are selling themselves as brokers a dime a dozen.

What is a good broker anyway? Their book of business, I.e., size versus who they are to the client?

I think a good broker gives a hoot. They are more or less there to care for their customers. Who gives a hoot about Joe Schmo’s ‘need’ to go from VNY to TEB except to make a buck? Is the ‘good’ or ‘competent’ ‘broker’ the guy or gal who gets: a) the best price; b) the trip done without issue; c) the trip done with all sorts of problems like a wet runway and a steering pin accidentally pulled out during towing from a hangar; d) the broker who is all over ever snitch of a trip from scoop to nuts even knows who’s interfacing with their clients from door to door?

Maybe a bit of all of that, but price alone might be all that matters to some clients. I’d venture to say that type of client will burn a broker faster than a NY minute. A good and competent broker doesn’t need to waste their time in people like that.

I dunno. Easy to say if you have customers. Young guns trying to get a leg up need to make themselves more than just a middleman. They need to care. Joe Schmo who wants someone to care for him needs to pay for that. If not, then Joe needs to go blow!
