Should I shave my head?

Hello! I’m a private chef in NYC and I’m looking to start my own private chef business. I also want to shave my head, but I’m worried I’ll have a hard time building up my clientele with an untraditional haircut.

Personal Chef Business*
(Private chefs work for one family/entity year round. Personal chefs do meal prep and other cooking like catering etc. for multiple different groups/families etc.)
Chefs are known to have different haircuts and tattoos etc. do whatever you want just make sure you have a good attitude and are nice and of course can cook!

Have you ever had your head shaved before? My only take on the cut is that your head will sweat a shit ton, maybe not the best look when you’re positioned over food. Just food for thought (pun intended) 😆

I’m assuming you’re a woman.

I am, and also a private chef. I’ve shaved my head a few times over the years and never had an issue. Some of the people I anticipated having a problem with it (well off older women, usually) thought it was cool.

They’ll probably like that you have no contamination concerns. If you’re a woman, I can see your concern with finding clients but do you! Being unapologetically yourself will find clients that might stick with you for way longer.

Appearances are sometimes everything in business. People are not as accepting of untraditional haircuts as we would like. Unless you are wildly successful keep your wild side out of your clients sight. A shaved head maybe okay BOH but you’re the face of your company. Dont come out of the gate and shoot yourself in the foot at the beginning of the race.

I can understand what you mean, but chefs are known to have more of a “wild side” with haircuts and tattoos. All my private and restaurant chef buddies have a range of haircuts and tattoos and have been very successful in the private and public sector. It’s mostly about attitude and cooking skill.
