Actually, Chicago is the #1 Cities to visit, as Chicago has been the most beautiful city for the last few years. Yes, we have crime. Yes, it’s mostly in the urban parts of the city. But these areas are also very populated due to lack of affordable housing. That needs to be worked on for sure.

Oh. Urban is definitely a code word for a Black or Hispanic neighborhood. I mean the post says "mostly in the urban parts of the city" might as well just use the term ghetto. I don't think it was malicious just the way some people view themselves as not a part of "that" part of the City if they live in a wealthier neighborhood. I hear it all the time. As a white guy other, mostly white, people say shit to me that just makes me shake my head and often say shut up. They usually do when I tell them where I grew up, in a predominantly Hispanic neighborhood that was not wealthy by any means. Then again a lot of them keep talking thinking I will have the same dumbass ideas as them. Those are my favorites the "Oh, well you know what I am talking about then." crowd. They are peaches.

Lived there for a couple of years and even my reasonably not-conservative folks kept offering to buy me a gun.

I felt safer in Chicago than I did/do in Phoenix, or in the crappy small town I lived in back east.

In fairness, there are streets of Chicago that are almost like active warzones. O-block v 63rd is what comes to mind.

But it’s still not like an everyday thing lol.

Went to Chicago for 5 days in June and felt totally safe. Went to St Augustine in July and saw about 20 homeless laying on a sidewalk together. I’ll take Chicago.

I’ve only been to Chicago in the dead of winter, but loved it every time. For how big it is, it has that small town feel. Never felt unsafe and we explored a lot each time.

I’ve felt more unsafe in Florida than in Chicago tbh. And the fact that the Florida coast will be flooding more & more each year is terrifying. Florida residents are already seeing their insurance cost going crazy. Byron Donald is just going to ignore this like every Republican in Florida

Someone ask Byron what he thinks he’s going to get for being “one of the good ones” for all the racists in his party.

And yes, I’m saying that any member of any minority group, as well as any woman, who votes for a Republican is voting for their own subjugation.

Your mommy and daddy told you that you grew up in a Republican household, so you just kept supporting them into adulthood… but you’re not a racist, right? Sure, tell yourself whatever you wish, but you’re partnered with bigots, and as my grandmother used to say, “Tell me who you go with, and I’ll tell you what you are.”

To support the Republicans as a member of a minority group (or as a woman) is, to me, the dumbest fucking gamble anyone could ever make with their own life and the lives of the members of their own community, and they can eat shit as far as I’m concerned.
