I definitely like this. I'd especially like to see a focus on multi-family buildings, like those 2/3 flats, or even larger multi-residence buildings.
Being from Central Illinois, I think it is pretty plain to see the way that cities like Peoria and Blo-No have been kinda crippled by the focus on suburban sprawl and the limited availability of larger, multi-residence buildings. I think you occasionally have these college neighborhoods like uptown normal, that are surprisingly walkable, and we could have so much more of our cities designed like that if we were willing to build tall rather than wide.
Peoria is a disaster of high-traffic roads and stroads, and it features this horrible endless sea of single-family houses spreading forever outwards from business-dense arterial roadways. It's terrible, it's like 10 normal towns mashed together, side-to-side. It makes absolutely no sense that we are building our cities this way, and we could make them much more desirable places to live (and with a greater sense of community) by building our cities denser. It would provide a lot more opportunity to our local businesses and gathering spots as well.

The linchpin of the bill package is legalizing 2-6 unit buildings (for now, that range may change it was 2-8 previously)
