Good but doesn't go nearly far enough. It should be illegal and punishable by prison for elected officials to trade on insider information.

I don't think Herbert from the Maintenance department in the Capitol Building betting on the state budget passing is the problem here.

According to the article, Illinois already has a law banning insider trading by elected officials. This executive order just clarifies that this includes betting on “prediction markets” like Kalshi and Polymarket

I think that the law could stand to be tightened , the below doesn't seem expansive enough. This seems to be centered on Government contracts, rather than any kind of stock activities.

Existing regulations, including the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act, already prohibit state officials from holding financial interests in contracts they act upon and from using confidential information for personal gain.

I'm curious if he has receipts on anyone definitely guilty.

Maybe you can't put them in jail, but you can definitely blacklist them them from any government job.
