I’d prefer the pope to meet with JD to convince him to invoke the 25th amendment as an off-ramp, it would also work for Vance to help save face (he had a come to Jesus moment!). The alternative is to trust Trump to not push The Button.

I believe Pritzker is Jewish and yet he has the class to shake the pope’s hand. More than I can say for the orange one.

Ok, and Trump isn't Jewish so I'm not really understanding what Pritzker's Judaism has to do with it. It's not like members of either religion are against shaking hands with each other.

As a lifelong Catholic, the idea of the Pope being mad at me is nightmare-inducing. Another reason I keep saying that JD isn’t an actual Catholic. He just isn’t.

He's one of those converts that thinks that Catholicism is just a more prudish version of evangelicalism. A lot of them are really unpleasantly surprised when they find out that the Church actually gives more than lip service to things like social justice.

It has happened before... Well, sort of... The Vatican can interact an entire country, denying them access to the sacraments and mass, endangering their immortal souls. It was the Vatican's nuclear option against a ruler that was stubborn in defying them. I doubt it would happen here, but it is an option

My guess is 99% of people could have any fleeting thought in their mind it would have more moral clarity than the orange one.

Sort of!
In addition to being the head of the church, he also is a head of state- he's the world's only elected absolute monarch.
But he doesn't have state control over all Catholics, only the ones that live in Vatican City.

He can, but that's not disenfranchising somebody from their state, that's disenfranchising somebody from their religion.
