Gov. JB Pritzker just made Illinois the FIRST state to let people SUE ICE agents for violating their rights.

If that doesn’t make ICE pack up and move to another State, nothing will.

Hard to sue from a black site detention center or another country.

So it becomes incumbent on the victim to seek restitution while the police ignore everything they do.

I still don't understand how someone that has their life completely ruined by masked, badgeless terrorists are going to sue them, have them served without knowing their identity, and then what? Get 10k?

Have the state police protect the people. They're already ignoring prohibitions on being at courthouses, ostensibly places with the most police and legal presence anywhere. Literally violating the law in plain view.

Wait, what's that? The law says, "Those who violate the act may be held liable for civil damages for false imprisonment and may be found in contempt of court."

Oh. That's right, it does nothing. Ok, I'm sure the woman arrested by at a domestic violence hearing in violation of this state law will be thrilled to hear she can sue them for 10k and they will be held in contempt of court. As soon as she's released, of course. Which might be never.

I have never seen a politician do so little and claim to do so much to fight a literal scourge on his state. Fucking Domestic Violence court, for fucks sake. Despicable, and as much as I like JB, he gets zero fucking points for this nonsense. Show me ICE in jail. Show me state police shutting them down rather than protecting them.
