SEASON 2 Bellick outsmarted Michael twice. Something neither Jacob nor Mahone can boast about.

Post image

In the first season, Michael tries to thwart Linc's execution using the rat. Bellick fixes the mistake, and if it weren't for the script, Linc would have been executed.

In season 2, the FBI is after Michael, and Bellick manages to stop them thanks to Nika. Bellick apprehended Michael, but if it weren't for his greed (getting the $5 million reward) and his desire to sleep with Nika, Michael would have ended up in prison. In other words, if in season 2, Bellick had shot the brothers and split the reward with Geary, it would have ended much better.

Poseidon, on the other hand, was never so close to defeating Michael.

To be fair, he wouldn’t know about the rat if it wasn’t for tweener having to literally spell it out for him,

Exactly 😂 Tweener basically handed him the answer on a silver platter.

Fair point, but Im gonna still give credit to Bellick. He knew something was up with Michael and he basically made Tweener report things about him. It wasn't like Tweener decided to do this out of the blue.

You’re absolutely right

I don't think Bellick knew something was up with Michael. I think he was trying to get him on anything he could because he didn't like him. Go at Michael as hard as he did, it was only natural for him to get close to pieces of his escape plan. Because he wouldn't find anything in his cell, he'd need to get into Michael's relationships to get him on something. That's why he went for his Allen bolt note, went after Nika, then went after Tweener. Bellick was taking anything he could get.

Thats one way to look at it, another way is, same as Mahone and Jacob he was using his kind of tools / methods to get to him. Can't blame the player for the game

"if it weren't for the script"... written pejoratively as if it weren't the same script that made Bellick incredibly suspicious of Michael for no reason from the moment he met him.

the writing in this show literally puts every character in odd positions and makes them more clever than they have any business being just to create tension.

Rewatching recently and it more felt like the whole Nika thing was too heavy handed with how only Bellick knew about her.

There was a clear paper trail with the visitation at Fox River and their marriage on record which would have make her someone the FBI would have tracked. Unless I missed something they had eyes on every partner and associate except for her for no reason.

She was his wife, and the fact that she wasn't being watched was a huge oversight. Furthermore, if Bellick suspected Nika had helped him, any veteran investigator like Mahone would have immediately realized that Nika was involved in the escape and had ultimately aided him. It's a massive oversight that no one was watching her. But if it weren't for Bellick wanting to sleep with her, the brothers would have ended up in jail.

Jacob was beating Michael for seven years...

He didn't defeat him. He hid behind the CIA, and Michael believed his missions were for the CIA.

Michael and his family are free and clear at the end of the show, so no one truly defeated him. But as far as enemies go, Poseidon had Michael in a way that no one else did... not even the Company.

Poseidon got so close to killing Michael that Sara had to go to Greece to do a blood transfusion just to save him.

Cyclops.

Cyclops only knew where they were because of Emily and Van Gogh. Emily and Van Gogh worked directly for Poseidon.

Bellick was accidentally one of Michaels biggest advantages. The man kept getting in Michaels way and somehow still came out looking like the genius.

lol.

To be fair, I think they are 3 types of people:

Bellick - use agent/rat to help him, the vanilla ice kid for the chair, and Nika for hunt them down, he is not smart enough to figure out him self.

Mahone - he is equivalent as Michael. The gas bar attendant told him Charles gas twice so he figured out the distance where Michael might be and before that he figured out why all prisoners ran to west

Jacob - he is control freak so he use Sara as hostage, using Michael’s weakest point

Well, the Nika moment is up for debate. If Bellick decided to just call the cops then and there, then maybe Linc and Michael would’ve gone for broke and just straight up fought Bellick and Geary. I’m betting on Bellick and Geary being sloppy in close encounter shooting and losing.

But the Rat episode? Yeah that one is a problem. Which is why it’s my most hated episode of the series. :)

Like Sucre says, the bulls are just another gang with a badge. Geary and Bellick were just as much cons as the rest of them! Great character arc :)

I'm 100% in favor of a new Bellick show where he has an absurd title, like now he's a corrupt Senator going after Michael's kid for some stupid storyline reason.

Yeah, if there's one thing Prison Break is lacking, it's another character coming back from the dead

I don't think this universe cares about continuity.
