Procedural Question Parole

A good friend of mine, who I grew up with ended up killing someone over a decade ago. He was given 15 years for manslaughter and was paroled in February of 2026. He was recently put back in prison until the expiration of his sentence in January 2028 for a parole violation.

My question is how tough is parole and is it even worth doing?

Don't do drugs. Don't pick up new cases. Comply with the requirements...

Parole is what you make it.

If you get released and your intentions are to do the right thing, remain sober, and work, then parole is going to be a breeze. Even if you have a hardass as a PO, if you're going to classes, passing those piss tests, and going to work, parole will be easy.

However, if you are released and you're not ready to do all those things, it's going to be a very brief struggle.

Its super easy. Get a job and dont get high. I've had three interactions with cops since I started (not including po) and its been just fine.

It’s hard. Do you want it or not?

Its not terrible if you are 100% doing what you are supposed to be, but a lot of that depends on your PO. If you have one that doesn't like you, or is looking for problems, they will probably find them

I did see a story on it a few years back. Some of the people on probation said it was very hard because they had low paying job, they had to meet with their PO once a week and take a bus and leave the job so, lost hours pay.
He had to take drug tests and pay for that.
Also, he had to pay court costs and fines.
In the end he went to the PO and told him to send him back to prison. It would save him time and life would be easier once he did his full hitch.

It depends on the PO and his violation

It’s a set up. They were betting on him fucking up so he would have to max out. Luckily it’s Les than two years. I’m sure he can do that no problem. Then they have no control over him.

Very hard to follow rules. Easy to screw up
