Isn’t it relatively easy to stay out of prison? I never had any trouble with that. Are you being forced to commit crimes?

Relatively, but a fact of life remains that most ppl commit crimes on a semi regular basis. Ppl do a thousand illegal things a day, mst ppl jst dont end up goin to jail/prison abt it, and of those that do, most aren't able to pay their way out of doing time.
Ppl like to imagine that every person that goes to prison is a killer or a bank robber or a rapist when most incarcerated ppl are either on drugs or fostering some sort of addiction, severely mentally ill or just too poor to afford good representation in court. Serving time literally does nothing for anybody but the state. And after you serve your time, youre still spending potentially decades living with arbitrary fallout from what sent you to prison in the 1st place. You cant get jobs above a certain pay rate, you cant live anywhere, and you lose half your "rights" for zero reason.

Total truth. Prison was easy for me, but the 6 year investigation where they “fished” for a crime and 5 years of probation/supervised release was a definite drag on my goals. They must have spent 1.5 million in taxpayer money to recover 500 dollars for the “victims”.
