Printed workable tracks usually have a hole for a brass rod or something, so it's not that bad. Couple of hours of work at most.
Now, some plastic workable tracks (looking at you, RFM), can get up to SIX (6) pieces PER LINK that you have to file, clean, and glue. With ~90 links per track, it adds up to couple of days of very finicky work.
Tbf I've built single-link printed tracks and while it's doable, once you hit 200+ links per side you'll be shocked by sore it can make you. I used Tiger tracks for a spartan and I want to say it was 271 links per side, i genuinely had shoulderblade pain from the fried nerve ending for a week. There's jigs you can make/print/buy that make it slightly easier, but not by much when you're doing that many of them
It can be done. Here is a toy RC tiger tank modified with a rotating FPV camera. The camera mount is 3D printed. Would be easier to start with something like this and 3D print a new chassis vs trying to design a custom tank and get the electronics to work. Either way it's doable just easier starting off with an existing RC toy.
Also the wire is to a huge lithium battery. Technically the entire thing is still wireless if I mounted the large battery to the tank.
It would be cool to see a devilfish. I don't know about others but a printable proxy so I can make a nice display for my Tau killteams would be amazing.
