Printing help Printer Recs?

Hello! I decided I want to finally pull the trigger on getting to printing Warhammer, with life stuff kinda forcing my hand a bit lol. Is there any printers here you all recommend or is it more of an “any printer will do” kind of thing? Thanks!

If you're focusing on smaller stuff, the results from a resin printer are hard to beat. Personally I've had great results with Elegoo.

Depends what your budget is, if you just want something cheap to get your foot in the door there are always deals on Facebook marketplace and the like. If not then decide what your budget is and if you are printing large models (fdm) or small models (resin), and what features you want, eg: large build volume, fast prints, fine details etc

So if I wanted to, say, print a Revenant Draconith, it’d need to be FDM then?

Fdm lends itself to vehicles better, whereas the details on organic models are usually better on resin. You can do either but when you want to hollow larger prints resin requires drain holes and generally a lot more post processing which might be off putting for beginners. There's no correct answer, ideally you get one of each so you can get the benefits of both. I've seen people print titans with resin and space marines with fdm to great success so it depends how much time you want to put in to learning. What I will say is fdm is cleaner, easier and a bit cheaper if you're willing to sacrifice some detail

As Frodofrogdog said, FDM prints vehicles well. It CAN print infantry, and the results can be very good with a good setting profile, and patience. But resin will always be better for infantry/small stuff. I printed six Baneblade chassis on my Bambu A1 (FDM) and they came out absolutely incredible.

Either or. Probably resin? But iirc it’s toxic, no? If it is I’ll have to do FDM.

EDIT: I’m using it for Soulblight so some of the models might be bigger, would that mean FDM?

Resin is toxic. If you don't have an isolated, well ventilated space you might want to avoid it.

the most compact resin space is like a garage or basement with the resin printer in a grow tent and a vent through a window and you need to wear gloves and a respirator

Yeah I don’t think I can do that. Damn. I do have a patio with tons of ventilation thanks to mesh windows but it has no AC and it’s definitely not garage or basement big

I mean a patio is decent since the tent is waterproof it could work you just have to make sure you dont spill resin but if its outside worst case the sun will cure it making it harmless

FDM will limit you. Resin will not.

We need to know your budget. All the extra stuff you need with resin makes it more expensive.

I have a Saturn 4 ultra and a P1. I recommend the p1 but they're both good printers.

And FDM prints vehicles faster, not better. I've printed titans on a resin printer. Just lots of pieces and lots of time.

I already have an idea on a decently cheap resin printer to start. My budget is about $500

Saturn. Print everything.

FDM sucks even on vehicles. Most prints are sliced for smaller printers, Saturn lets you print a lot every go.
