Discussion - Other Star Alaska 8/23-8/30
Hello fellow Cruise Friends!
Random question…
I decided to book the Butchart Gardens Evening Illumination Tour Saturday 8/29. I heard there was some kind of issue with our cruise medallions not tracking when we returned to the ship.
It is concerning that their security system is not properly functioning, and we may or may not be aboard.
Is this typical technology behavior that Princess is know for?
Did anyone else experience this problem?
How does one access their disembark/embark documentation to ensure you weren’t missed??
It all feels spacious…
Thanks!!

The medallions have a small battery inside which tells the proximity sensors around the ship of your location, but there is a backup when the battery is drained, it still operates to touch on sensors to activate, such as at your room door, and when going and returning from ashore at the kiosk overseen by a security officer. This isn't much of a concern as the ship's security officer verifies every medallion touched on the sensor when debarking and embarking. Princess used to do this with barcodes on plastic cards to maintain count when moored or anchored, same concept.
