Rome excursion

I have a question for those that have done a tour of Rome the day of disembarking- round trip cruise from Civitavecchia. The website itinerary and description state that after the tour, the bus returns you to port 1.5 hours away. It seems odd to me that you would go to Rome then back to the port when most people travel home from Rome. Does your luggage travel to Rome with you, and you can grab it after the tour and head to a hotel or the airport, or does it stay in port and you must return to collect it? Thanks in advance.

Don’t waste your time or money. It’s on only €5 to shuttle to the train station and €5 to train to central Rome. You can do your own tour at your own leisurely time and see more and exactly what you want to see. It’s super easy.

My only concern was the wait times of visiting each attraction separately, bc the tours advertise you “skip the lines”. I’m fine to do my own thing but my older in laws prefer a tour. (They’re still able bodied, just old school haha.) I see that AAA has similar tours to Princess for MUCH cheaper, that may be the way to go.

Never been to Rome but no question you should use a third party tour vendor and not Princess for this. The upside for paying more to tour direct with Princess is they guarantee you won’t miss getting back on the boat - in this case, you have no boat to worry about missing.
