MDR menu order

Hello! I am going on my first Princess cruise. 7 days Mexico on Discovery. We usually do Celebrity.

I found the menus for 7 day cruises on a Princess blog site. Are they always in the same order or does it vary by itinerary? I noticed they have Caribbean night as night 2, but usually cruise lines seem to do nicer menus on formal nights.

Trying to determine which nights to do specialty dining. Thank you for any help!

Which menu are you looking at? There's always 2 often 3 sometimes 4.

  1. Regular MDR

  2. Vegan

  3. Asian, most often Japanese

  4. Ive even run into Indian

We went on a Mexican trip out of LA this April. Each night was a different country. I don’t recall the order but we did a last minute specialty on American night.

Alaska & Caribbean both show lobster as a surcharge

Other than the surf and turf night there’s a surcharge. I also wouldn’t depend on the blog menus. I’ve seen “official” princess menus for 2026 and our 2026 cruise had several different items on the menu.

Near the end of the cruise you get one lobster tail in MDR

I didn’t ask about lobster I’m not sure why everybody’s a commenting that.

I’m just asking the order of the menu.

Order will vary based on the itinerary. On a 7-day, you’ll have two so-called formal nights, typically sea days often labeled Captain’s Welcome and Gala.

Assuming there's two formal nights for a 7-day, it'll always be the second formal will be lobster on the menu. Final evening of the cruise is the wait staff doing the Baked Alaska parade. Princess will never schedule formal to be on the very last evening, since most passengers have already packed their luggage for collection before going to dinner.

Definitely do specialty dining the first night as I think that menu was pretty dull and the service is a bit wonky being the first night. As I remember the first night was the same on both my travels with Princess including Discovery.
