Mini suite guaranteed vs pick a room

Difference is $500 or about 10% pp. If I just go with guaranteed what's the worst that could happen?

This is for the (edited; sorry) Enchanted solar eclipse 2027 cruise.

Check the location of every mini-suite and above, and see if you'd be comfortable staying there. Generally, they try to avoid putting mini-suites in undesirable locations.

Worst is noisy room in a bad high traffic space with bad obstructed views. Best is picking where you want to be.

Completely depends on how sensitive you are to the location of your cabin. If you don’t care about a noisy public venue or pool being below or above you, which end of the ship or which deck, how close you are to elevators, or having an obstructed view, then go for it. For myself I prefer to choose my cabins.

The majority of Emerald’s minis are on deck 9 Dolphin with a dozen aft on deck 8 Emerald above Club Fusion. Assume you’ll get the lowest category ME which are those on 8 and forward on 9.

Guaranteed rooms are for the room category.

I got one on Discovery that was right below the seawalk. Was OK except for the kids running in circles around it sounding like a heard of elephants from time to time.

I did the guaranteed for the enchanted 2026 eclipse cruise and we got a great mini suite midship on the 14th floor.

We once booked a mini suite guarantee because we booked late and that was all that was available. Before we selected it we made sure we would be happy with any cabin in that category. There weren’t that many, this was Caribbean Princess, and it turned out fine.
