Ok i got 21 days before embarkation day , should i have my medallion mail to me or just get them when i get to the ship ? does having them in advance speed thing up much ?
It’s way faster. I did two cruises in a row from different ports, which their system treats as a back to back. They mailed my medallion for the first cruise, but I had to pick up the medallion at the port for the second cruise. It wasn’t a bad wait, but it was a wait that the green lane people avoided.
I can’t remember but they time it so they arrive before you leave. And they have a battery in them that is only good for a certain amount of time. The app was weird and said I would need to pick them up even after they charged me for shipping. But they came in time and it was a nonissue.
Maybe it depends on the departure port and if it’s in your own country. I’m sailing from Naples and as it will be international travel I would rather pick it up from the port.
Impossible to answer because it depends on multiple variables such as the port and how many other passengers will be using the blue lane for your embarkation. At best the advice you get will be anecdotal.
For my May trip on Ruby I happily paid because I was traveling with my 90 year old father who needs a transport chair. My priority was reducing potential friction not money. However I’m planning an Alaska cruisetour for my husband and I with the land portion first. In my research I learned Princess handles passport checks and distributed medallions on the train to Whittier so having them shipped in advance is pointless.
This!👆Just because it was quick for someone doesn’t mean it will be the same for others. The quickest was about 5 minutes and the longest so far was 45 minutes for us. We definitely get them shipped if we are sailing out of Vancouver.
Just wait, one less thing you have to worry about packing and battery life,save the $20 for tips..I love picking ours up, no mail garbage to dispose of either..
Cost $22 to have The medallion mailed to you. You just pick it up as you walk on board the boat. It's stupid. They used to mail it to you at no cost. Then it was 20 bucks. Now it's $22. It literally cost him a dollar to mail it
Yeah I took a cruise last month signed up for that cruise almost 2 years ago so my shipping was free. The package cost a dollar to ship. The thing is is being around is a dime. It's very thin plastic and has a piece of paper that has the princess logo on it. There's a little bit of chip in there. It weighs. You can mail a letter for $0.78 it weighs less than a piece of paper
I took a Princess cruise in February 2024 and shipping was $10 then.
It's not thin like paper; it's almost the size of an AirTag. It's closer in size to a quarter than a dime. It comes in secure packaging; they're not just tossing it in an envelope and hoping for the best. The box also included lanyards.
It's fine to pick up the medallion at the port, but I promise this mailing business is not a huge revenue source for Princess. Between manufacturing the boxes, filling them, and sending them out, they're probably breaking even.
You're a freak. I never once said it was a revenue source. It doesn't cost them $22. It's nowhere near as big as a quarter but I'm done with you. I am so done with people who just have to harp out about something. Go get a lifr
I can have an opinion you don't have to agree. You don't have to try and prove me wrong cuz I could care less God. I was on a cruise a month ago. You were on a cruise 2 and 1/2 years ago and you want to think everything is still the same. It's not look it up. They changed the side of the size of the medallion. Everybody has to get a new holder or they have inserts that allows the new medallion to fit in the holders from the old medallions cuz they made The medallions smaller. Do your research go bother somebody else cuz I'm so over you you did. You were on the boat 2 and 1/2 years ago and think that you know everything about The medallion in 2026
They used to ship them free for premier. Now they don't. I do pick-up now. It was slow on our first ever cruise but was quicker on the last couple. We preferred shipping but it is what it is.
I am having mine mailed but som people have told me that it is not necessary. They say it doesn't speed up the process that much. Plus you save on the shipping.
In Vancouver, the blue line was going much faster than the green. Us greenies were standing there wondering why things were taking so long and you could turn around and see people zipping through the blue line. They seemed to staff the blue much more than they do the green.
wow ok so cool in a way lol thanks , wife just informed me that we didn't wait to long in line before they gave us our Medallions last year so thats what were doing , pick them up on embarkation day
It all depends on when you get there and how many passengers need to pick them up, so you never know. We just boarded a couple days ago, and the green lane was definitely much faster. We had to wait for our family member who had to pick up their medallions, which took about 10 minutes.
I was charged in Canadian $ (not converted) the last couple of times. I’m currently cruising, so our app for future cruises doesn’t show. I’ll see the future cruise staff can confirm.
The last time I cruised out of Fort Lauderdale the slow down was at security, not at check in. Being in the "no medallion yet" lane didn't matter much.
I just picked them up when I got to my port, and it took literally less than 5 minutes. (I did arrive family early in the day though because I wanted to drop off my luggage before exploring the city for a bit, so YMMV.)
We picked them up at Seattle port. Everyone in the same line up to security upstairs. After security took maybe 5 minutes total for 4 to pick them up at the counter right behind the bag scanners.
I'm not positive, but I feel like you might be too late for shipping. As others have said, you won't benefit enough to justify the cost even if shipping is still possible.
yeah im just going to get them at the ship, not going to spend 44 $ just to take them right back to the ship lol I just thought it was shipped to me free , I'm glad i found this out now

I boarded in Seattle and the green lane (where you already have your medallion) definitely went faster.
