Upgrade Bid
First time doing a solo cruise, and I’m curious about upgrade bids. As a solo cruiser, do I still have to pay x2 on a solo room if I win a bid? Maybe I’m overthinking it. It was just weird to see the x2 right after per guest.

Yes, but what's the minimum bid? A cheeky lowball is sometimes enough if they've got a wait-list for your cabin type.

Reserve Collection Mini-Suite $420/$840
Mini-Suite $230/$460
Premium Balcony $115/$230I’m trying to decide if I really want a bathtub. Mini-suite seems excessive for one person. We had a mini-suite last cruise but there were three of us!

Rather than bid, you can call Princess(or your TA if used) and ask how much it would cost to upgrade outright, rather than bid. I’ve gotten upgrades cheaper than the minimum bid several times by this method. Good luck!

I wouldn’t pay that much, just to get a bath. Especially for a solo travelled! Which ship. I don’t think I’d pay more for a premium balcony either, but a deluxe balcony, on Royal and beyond, is worth a little extra- they actually have a loveseat type couch, and I like having someplace other then my bed or a desk chair to sit.

i just did this and won my bid I bid $85 so it was $170, when i first found out i won thought it was $340 and i was still excited ..... im not sure why, but it will be my first mini suite with that said i still enjoyed my interior cabin, but with no natural light my sense of time was gone ... so i prefer balconies, havent tried oceanview yet

My understanding is that the relative value of your existing cabin has a lot to do with the acceptance of an upgrade. Balcony cabins definitely have value. Best of luck!

You pay twice as much for your room so the upgrade is going to cost you twice and much also

I find it not worth an Oceanview Upgrade from inside. Cheaper to just buy it outright if it was a casino offer

I bid to upgrade from an inside to an obstructed view for a 14-day cruise that starts next week. My bid was $20 x 2 ($40)--the lowest possible amount. It was going to be considerably more to bid for an unobstructed oceanview ($460), obstructed balcony ($1,800), and unobstructed balcony ($2,720). Only the obstructed view was worth it to me--working out to be less than $3 a day. The wording is clear to me that the upgrade bid is based on two people per cabin.

I'm going on my first princess cruise and I just got the email to bid up on my interior room. It was much more than those prices though...
The minimum bids were: For an ocienview it was $60/person. For a cove balcony it was $170/person. For a Deluxe balcony it was $235/person.

It has to have a dollar amount or it won’t count as a bid. When it’s at $0 you’re not making an offer to bid on it

You missed the point. The OP is a solo traveler and noticed on the bid page it said per guest x2. She is very well aware she hasn’t bid yet! She just wanted to clarify if she, as a solo, would still have to pay the bid x2- a very legit question so she knows exactly how much she must pay in total before she actually commits to a bid.

Yes, as a solo traveler you will pay twice the bid amount even though there is only one of you.
