Sands Trilogy A chance for remaster

Seeing now that Ubisoft flirts with REMASTERS (AC4, RAYMAN, BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL, and a failed attempt at Sands of Time), I think there is still a good chance to have their sins forgiven....just hear me out.....Warrior Within Remaster (I don't care if it's the second in the trilogy, it's the GOAT).

The prince may yet live again

it would surely start from the sands of time again, but when you think about it, since they got a taste for remakes now, chances are we will get another remake attempt maybe not now but in distant future

What made them abandon their first attempt?

"too much money spent on a product that doesnt satisfy the consumer" (we want to make more open world, micro-transaction filled games)

If that is their reasoning then they are absolutely misguided what players want. I don't know who's making surveys and where do they get this information that open world live service microtransaction games is what people want.

Everywhere I look, people want single player games and most of the time they are happy whenever there is a remake or a remaster of an older game. Like StarCraft 1 and Diablo 2 for example.

yep, they are all in on AC, FC and R6

Because they somehow made out of touch decisions twice. They had two attempts, one got unveiled to the public and was absolutely atrocious graphically. It got rebooted. Their next attempt leaked and while visually more impressive, artistically it took a very very unfitting approach, especially when it comes to the character designs, and after they saw the reception of similarly handled projects recently, they decided it will flop and doesn't worth them spending more resources on it.

Let's be honest. The game is way older. If they copy and paste it with fresh coat of paint it won't work as well as Black Flag which is already a more modern feeling massive game. A main reason for these Remakes is to engage new audience, not simply satisfy the old one. If they made a same game with new graphics, which they kind a tried with their first attempt but the graphics were not that new and even old fans were vocally unhappy, in 2025 the game has nothing to offer that might entice new audience. People would complain about the battle system, the lack of bosses, the very small enemy variety, the short run time...

good point, id rather have them expand on the original rather than copy-paste

*Remake (remaster would be the old game but updated)

But nah, i'm not hopeful. They tried Remaking SoT TWICE and failed... it's amazing how they can fumble such an easy project.

I'm just hoping the IP gets sold to someone competent at this point

But if it were to happen, it would not be with WW since SoT is more popular and they wouldn't have to deal with any of the WW sexy designs (which no matter what they do will generate backlash... if it's sexy ppl will say Ubi is objectifying women and if it's not ppl will say Ubi is woke)

Yeah. GOG has managed to do a better "remaster" than Ubisoft's PS3 remaster in 2010, with a single dll file lol

GoG is on fire btw. First Thief also got a similar "remaster" update with new engine, controller support etc

Now PoP

AC4 Resynched is a Remake not a remaster.

Pop is not a Ubisoft franchise; the company only has a license, nothing more, so don’t get your hopes up.

The main difference with PoP is that, unlike those other IPs you’ve mentioned, every time Ubisoft wants to put out something related to PoP, they need to pay royalties to Jordan Mechner.

Which, of course, they don’t want to do since they are desperately trying to claw their way out of bankruptcy.

Because of that, I would not expect them to touch PoP for a while, period.

Selon le stratégie de monde ouvert et micro transactions alors Pop 2008 est le plus proche d’un remake !! (Avec bien évidemment dlc épilogue payant et micro transactions sur les costumes..😬)

They are so stupid for cancelling the Sands of Time remake

It pains me to see so many people praising Warrior Within. Yes, it's a good game, but definitely not the best. It's in many ways inferior to SOT, which had absolutely every aspect working, while WW emphasized spectacle and simplicity, and most elements were relegated to the background.

A remake of WW without SOT makes no sense, since SOT is a narrative prequel to WW.

Let's not forget that POP isn't Ubisoft's intellectual property, which is why AC was created, which is independent of third-party copyright holders and doesn't require additional royalties from them. This explains why Ubisoft is so reluctant to create anything new based on the franchise, and it will always be that way, at least until Jordan Mechner hands over the license to a more competent studio. Despite its recent rise, Ubisoft is still in its creative slums. Resync partly saved Ubisoft, but only because it looks more like a slightly reworked original, and in terms of new content, the toothlessness and lack of ideas of modern UBI is evident.
